PlayNDate’s release and a new beginning

Chapter 67

Joachim

Why Emotional Connection Feels Impossible Today

She pounded on his door and finally opened the mailbox and screamed inside.

“Wake up now you damn coder.

You don’t stop responding when you have business with someone.

Or ignore your friends!”

Joachim slept deeply.

He had been coding all night, and he was dead tired.

The days were nightmares, and the nights were copies of the days.

Now he slept dreamlessly but somewhere he heard something he recognized …

It was lovely.

It hurt.

But he recognized it.

It was Nikki’s voice.

He couldn’t believe his ears.

He must be dreaming.

But he didn’t.

He heard her through the mailbox, and it was two in the morning.

Nikki had gotten up from the reception chair and left without even leaving a note for the manager.

Then she had taken the bus all the way home to him and now she was waking up half the house with her howling.

And she had thought.

As she had thought for the 14 hours since she left the office.

He rushed to the door and opened it.

She looked into his apartment, which looked more horrible than ever.

“Do you never clean unless a girl lives with you?”

” Huh?

Cleaning.

Well, but…”

“Shit, same.

We’ve received the other half of the capital.”

“The other one?”

“Don’t tell me the first one is gone.

Tell me we can still contact them.”

“Absolutely.

They last heard from me yesterday.”

“Q inc has given us the other half.

They want to meet us.

They’ve tried to call you, but you’ve changed your number, you idiot.”

“Q Inc ?!?!”

She nodded eagerly.

“So, we have the capital?

We can complete and market PlaynDate?

The gamified online dating app?”

“Just the way you want it.

The way we want it.

If the capital is still there.”

“As good as at the bank.”

“Then we’re ready, Joachim,” she said and then she gave him a hug, but he froze.

“You left,” he simply said.

She let him go.

“Yes.

I left.

I left because I can’t stand any more betrayal.

My parents.

Fredric.

Friends.

Guys.

And then you.

Who I trusted with my life more or less.

When I think about it, no one has gained as much of my trust as you.

And you know what?

I never regretted it.”

” Until then.

At lunch.”

“Yes.”

“And now?” She looked at him.

This question had been burning in her all the way here.

She said:

“Do you still feel for me like you wrote on Dating Line?”

Silence.

“If I do that – can we run PlaynDate then?” A look of jade.

A look of ice.

Or was it ice?

“Answer first.” He sighed.

“Yes.

I feel the same way.

I feel even more Nikki.

I love you.

I’m so terribly in love with you and I’ve missed you every second and if you leave now I don’t know if I can go through it all again because all the powers I summoned to resist you, you crushed as soon as your voice came into my dream just now.

So, what does that mean?

Can you answer that?”

She smiled.

It was time.

This was where it really began and everything before that had been a foundation.

A foundation.

She met his gaze.

“We can run PlaynDate together,” she said.

He still believed this was a dream.

If she wanted to run the company with him despite what he had just said, it must mean…

“Maybe there’s a chance.

Can you do another turn?

But with my effort this time?

I can’t promise anything.

I barely know how I feel about myself.

But I do know one thing.

I’ve been looking for something to build and I’ve been doing that all along.

I thought I’d do it with Fredric but it’s with you that I’ve done it.

We’ve been building something since day 1.

First the project with G8KeyPR where you stood behind me every step of the way and then PlaynDate.

And both projects led to something.

Nothing in my life has done that before.

But what I did with you.

And PlaynDate is a perfect description of what I’ve been through.

A game that leads to…

It led to…

lots.

Maybe even the thing I’ve missed the most.” She took his hand.

“What do you say?

Are you ready for one last adventure?”

And he was.

The silence between two people can sometimes say more than a thousand matches.
