Chapter 37

AI – date 3

Why Modern Relationships Feel Empty

Nikki wasn’t her usual self when she came to Joachim’s house for the third date.

“Hello,” he said tentatively.

She nodded in response.

She looked small.

“Are you sure we should do this today?” he asked cautiously.

“Yes.

I need to get the old stuff out of my system.”

“Okay,” he said.

“You decide.”

“We’re driving,” she said.

He kicked the algorithm into action while she watched.

Everything happened so quickly.

These adventures, as she chose to call them, set off all sorts of things in her.

She had quickly learned to appreciate it, but at the same time it made her very dizzy.

“After this date, I might need a break.

It depends.”

“As I say.

You can always choose friendship mode.

No need to date all the time.

But I understand.”

“It’s not like regular dating.

Your app really selects people who do things with me that trigger my inner self.

Pretty scary.” He paused.

“Can you do 10 dates?”

“I don’t actually know.”

“Anyway, the third date should be coming up soon.

Do you want to stay?”

“No, I still need some peace.” She smiled at him.

“You’re doing a good job, Joachim.” He watched her as she left.

She stepped out onto his street again and walked aimlessly through the nearby park when her pocket beeped again.

It made her jump.

Slowly she picked up the phone.

What would await her this time?

Several emotional storms of this kind and the experiment would actually be threatened.

Yes.

That’s how she felt.

But she knew that something good could also come out of it and after all, it was she who came up with this adventure as a requirement.

The only question was whether it had been her smartest idea.

She looked at the notification from G8KeyPR stupidly.

Should she open it now or wait a while?

She abandoned the app and walked through the park for a while, but her phone was burning in her pocket.

After just a couple of minutes, she picked it up and opened the app and stood there staring.

It wasn’t him, but the man in question was almost a carbon copy of Fredric.

Maybe intimacy was never supposed to feel this disposable
