Choices, sacrifice, broken trust, failed collaboration
Decision
The Emotional Cost of Endless Swiping
Nikki spent a few days alone.
She told Joachim that the project had to be paused for personal reasons.
He would surely accept that, she thought, because it was stressful for her.
She was wrong.
Joachim knew very well what was happening and he was terrified of Nikki’s decision.
At the same time.
At the same time, he couldn’t influence her in the slightest without revealing that he was following her on Dating Line.
Of course, she didn’t post on her other social media because G8KeyPR was there snooping and that would ruin the algorithm.
Nikki, on the other hand, was in agony.
As soon as she saw him, she knew she wanted him back, but the eternal question of trust was there.
How could they ever be just friends?
Who could she have trusted as a child when she was never allowed to be around?
When the adults who should have taken care of her, made her feel seen as a child, instead locked her in and continued the party while she could hear?
How could she trust anyone?
Wasn’t that what characterized this whole hunt?
Never being able to trust anyone she met?
But Fredric had regretted it and she had never felt the way she felt for him.
As the days passed, she returned to the happiest moment since she had met Fredric.
Stephan, the third date.
But she realized over time that it was because she was comparing him to Fredric.
It was Fredric all the time and no one else.
Days passed and she realized she had to make a decision.
He had even texted her, wondering casually what was going on.
He didn’t usually act like that.
So which path would her life take?
A lonely artist somewhere on earth or a life with the only person she had ever loved?
She was really torn between these two choices, but eventually she began to form her decision and a week to the day after they met, she texted Fredric.
I’ve decided.
Same time.
Same place / Nikki
The hardest part was never finding someone. It was daring to feel something.
