Nikki had been to the restaurant on time, and she thought that no matter what, she wouldn’t have to pay for her dinners at the dorm during this time because there was no way she wouldn’t be invited by the guys.

While she waited, she looked at her phone again to see if she could discover anything more about her date.

With those thoughts in her head, she saw him enter the room.

He looked around and brightened when he saw her.

They started a stylish conversation, and she expected something to happen at any moment.

That men in bare torsos would come in juggling chainsaws.

That the staff would sing her a song where he was the soloist or that he would perform something completely on his own, but nothing seemed to happen.

Halfway into the main course she started thinking of excuses about leaving him.

She saw an opportunity when he excused himself to go to the bathroom.

This could be her cue to just disappear.

However, it would be a cowardly way out, she readily admitted, so she refrained and thought that she would have to suffer through dessert, listen to more bowling talk and then politely thank him and call Joachim and ask what his damn AI was doing.

She reassured herself that it might be good for her to have a mid-date that didn’t give her any highs at all.

With those thoughts in mind, she sat there when her phone vibrated.

She thought it was Joachim and maybe she could use him as an excuse to get away earlier than she had intended.

But it wasn’t Joachim.

She took a deep breath.

She absolutely had to leave the date right now.
