Reading Dating Line # 11436

The Emotional Cost of Endless Swiping

Joachim sat down to read the Story, and he had a feeling.

Out of 10 dates, one would be to her liking.

Anything else would be unreasonable, even if she said she was tired of guys.

But when he started reading the post, his heart sank in time with the words, and he felt ashamed.

This was a good thing for her.

That was what he should feel.

And he was happy that she was happy.

But at the same time, it gnawed at him because the gap had widened.

He had been clear to himself that it shouldn’t happen, but now it happened.

He fell for Nikki and that had never been the intention.

He closed Dating Line and went to bed to sleep, but it was impossible.

From now on, he knew that when they were together, it wouldn’t be the same and he didn’t know how to handle it.

He had to put all thoughts of him and her away and at the same time provide her with new potential people.

An impossibility that had to be done.

Before he fell asleep, he thought that maybe she was exaggerating, like the time she had told him about the bad date she had described as good on Dating Line.

He hoped so, but deep down he probably thought that wasn’t the case.

The hardest part was never finding someone. It was daring to feel something.
