Chapter 28

The first date

The Truth About Love, Validation and Digital Romance

It took a few seconds before Nikki’s pocket started burning.

It was G8KeyPR that had conjured up a clone of the site where her first date was.

She could go through his profile in the app and if she thought he was interesting enough to meet, she could press OK to set up the first date.

A little uncertain and shy, G8KeyPR prompted the man in question, but it didn’t print out his profile, but instead told Nikki in a soft, human, male voice what it had found.

Kevin Walsh.

I am 27 years old and an extreme athlete from Baytown.

Writes a lot about his sports practice but his emotions shine through when he talks about other things.

He is passionate about what he loves.

You can tell when you read about his love for sport and most of it seems to apply to everything he loves.

So maybe that applies to you too Nikki 😉

“We’ll see,” she thought, but said out loud:

“That’s how G8KeyPR feels about me!”

“You could say it does.” Nikki nodded.

He was right.

Scary.

Kevin seems to like children and be a faithful man.

Loyal and stylish.

If I look over what he has written elsewhere on the internet, his profile seems to be true.

He seems to be himself wherever he is.

“Other places?”

“G8KeyPR is checking other places he has written online to make sure he is not a fake account and that you can trust what your date writes about themselves here.”

“You should sell this app instead of PlaynDate.

Or both.”

“G8KeyPR is not exactly legal, you can probably safely say.” Nikki listened to what her new friend said.

Kevin likes to have a first date in an unusual location that includes his interests.

I think Kevin meets your criteria for an adventurous date.

Should I set you up with a date?

“I don’t even need to contact you myself?”

“If you want.”

“No.

It’s an experiment and we’ll follow its rules.

We’ll let the app handle everything except the actual dating.”

“As you wish.” Nikki looked at Joachim.

” Here goes…” she said and pressed the OK button just below the text.

Kevin Walsh, 27 from Baytown, was contacted.

Not every connection should begin with a swipe.
