Confessions

The Hidden Psychology Behind Modern Online Dating

Joachim was on time.

And so was Nikki.

She slept quite soundly that night and was rested.

When she woke up, she had the attitude that she had to get this project off the ground.

No matter what Nikki she was going to become, she had to find a place to become one, and that couldn’t be at mom and dad’s house without grades.

So, she happily cheered for Joachim where he sat.

A week ago, she hadn’t even looked in his direction.

Joachim beamed.

He took the fact that Nikki was cheering him on as proof that this might work out after all.

She hadn’t proven anything to him yet, but if they could find chemistry, it was at least a start.

“Hi.

How are things?” he asked.

“Today?

Better.

Yesterday.

Less good.”

“What happened?” he asked after considering whether it was a question he was entitled to ask.

“I don’t know… Is this something we should talk about?”

“I guess that depends on you.” She was silent.

“I liked that app you’re working on.

Play Date.”

” PlaynDate,” he corrected her.

“Okay!

It wasn’t as typical as online online dating apps are.

It places some demands on the person you’re interested in and on yourself.”

“That’s kind of the idea.

I developed it because I hear how many girls are tired of quick meetings that don’t yield anything.

I thought this could be a bit more of a challenge and a fun thing while still being a online dating app.

Well, also I think that the app should include a way to make new friends in a fun way.

Maybe if they share interests like games.”

“You thought right,” she smiled, and her smile sent some strange fish into his stomach.

“What project should we do?” he said quickly.

“Like I said yesterday.

If you don’t have an AI bot that can scan good guys, I don’t know,” she muttered to herself, half-dreaming.

“Bad date?” he asked.

“I don’t know.

He wasn’t bad.

But he was kind of nothing.”

“Didn’t you have a boyfriend?” She looked up to him.

Was she keeping an eye on her boyfriends?

“Come on,” he said with a smile.

“No one could miss that Mercedes, he picked you up from outside school pretty much every day.”

The Mercedes.

Exactly.

And she had driven it and enjoyed the looks people gave her.

The car alone was probably worth $100,000.

What a weapon she was to let herself be picked up in it every day.

“Yes, but he had to do business elsewhere so…”

“Did it end?”

“I don’t know,” she said.

“Does it have to do with the project?”

“Sorry, I…”

“Shit.

Do you have anything?” Joachim fell silent.

He actually had an idea.

“Okay,” he said.

“I have an idea.

You may not like it, but I have an idea.”

Minutes later she just sat there gaping.

How the hell could someone come up with something like that?

Some people are not looking for attention. They are looking for something real.
